After a quiet few weeks on the recruiting trail, Virginia Tech picked up a big commitment this week from four-star LB Keshon Artis
. Today, the Hokies added another commitment from a talented in-state recruit.
Three-star OT Luke Tenuta from Crozet, VA announced that he has committed to Virginia Tech. Tenuta is Virginia Tech's 23rd commit of their 2018 class, fourth from the state of Virginia, and fourth offensive line commit of the 2018 cycle. Tenuta is the son of former Virginia defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta.
Luke Tenuta is ranked among the top 30 recruits in the state of Virginia as 247 Sports has him ranked 18th in the Commonwealth, and Rivals has him ranked 27th. 247 Sports currently has Tenuta ranked as the 76th best offensive tackle nationally.
Here's a look at Luke Tenuta's offer list.
- ACC: Virginia Tech, North Carolina
- Big 12: West Virginia
- AAC: UCF, East Carolina, Cincinnati
- Mountain West: Colorado State
- Conference USA: Old Dominion, Charlotte
- MAC: Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Kent State
- FCS: James Madison
Tenuta had a lot of interest from UNC, West Virginia, and UCF, but the Hokies were able to stave off that interest and gain a commitment from one of their top remaining offensive line targets.
This is a solid pickup for Vance Vice and the Hokies as Tenuta is an intriguing talent at 6'7'' who should be able to add a lot of weight on to his 270-pound frame. All indications are that Tenuta will be somewhat of a project who will likely redshirt next season.
Tenuta has the frame that you want in an offensive tackle at 6'7'' and after some time with Ben Hilgart, he has the potential to be a scary dude on the offensive line. This is a solid addition for the Hokies that could turn out to be a steal.
One thing that Hokie fans may like more about Tenuta is the fact that the Hokies were able to gain a commitment from a recruit whose parents both graduated from UVA. That's just a fun fact to keep tucked away with UVA having not offered him, especially if Tenuta turns out to be a big time steal.
Congrats to Luke Tenuta on his commitment to Virginia Tech.
