After injuries derailed his freshman and sophomore seasons, three-star OT Oluwatosin Babalade had a healthy junior season, his first on the OL and impressed. Since then, he has seen his recruitment take off in 2022 with the standout DeMatha Catholic offensive lineman receiving several new offers including ones from Ole Miss, Miami, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, West Virginia, Rutgers, and more since the start of the year.
Now, Virginia Tech might be one of the next offers for Babalade with the Hokies showing interest in him.
Babalade told us that he has heard from offensive line coach Joe Rudolph and that he knows Virginia Tech is "looking at" him. That shouldn't come as a surprise as Babalade has emerged as one of the better offensive linemen in the DMV for the 2023 class.
While it's clear that Virginia Tech has interest in Babalade, the talented 2023 recruit also has interest in Virginia Tech in part due to Joe Rudolph's reputation.
"I know his reputation proceeds him with the great O lines that he produced at Wisconsin. So it did intrigue me a bit but it’s not the driving force of my interest," Babalade said.
As Babalade mentions, Rudolph's reputation boosts his view of the Hokies but isn't the driving force of his interest in Tech. So what is the "driving force" of his interest in VT?
"A mix of the education, coaching and most of all being not to far from home," Babalade said.
Looking ahead, Babalade told us that Virginia Tech is among the schools that he is hoping to visit in the near future. There are also other schools he's hoping to visit including ACC rivals Miami and Boston College who both have offered Babalade already.
Keep an eye on fast-rising offensive tackle Oluwatosin Babalade who is starting to receive interest from Joe Rudolph and Virginia Tech with an offer potentially coming in the not too distant future.
