For the second-straight week, a Virginia Tech men's basketball player has been named ACC Player of the Week. Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been recognized by the conference for his performance, leading the Hokies to victory in two games last week.
Alexander-Walker stepped up on Wednesday night at Miami, leading Tech with 25 points against the Hurricanes in an 82-70 win. He shot 11-for-17 from the field and 3-for-7 from three-point range in the game. The game tied his season high for scoring while also setting season highs in field goals made (11) and steals (6).
The 6-foot-5 guard scored 11 points in another ACC road win at No. 23 NC State over the weekend. Alexander-Walker shot 4-for-10 from the field and 2-for-3 from the free throw line as the Hokies won 47-24. He set a season high in Saturday's game as well, playing 40 minutes.
This is the second ACC Player of the Week honor for Alexander-Walker this season. He was first recognized during the week of Nov. 18. Justin Robinson received Player of the Week recognition last week for his performances against UNC and Syracuse.
Alexander-Walker and the Hokies will be back on the court tonight as they host No. 16 Louisville in Cassell Coliseum. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
