In college football you never stop recruiting and over the past week many high school players in the classes of 2027 and 2028 announced getting offers from Virginia Tech and their staff.
Unsurprisingly, every single new offer has come on the offensive side of the ball, the one side where Virginia Tech's coaching staff is in place. Meanwhile, all of the defensive offers that have been recently were 're-offers' rather than new offers.
Almost every offer was sent to the 2027 class with the only exceptions being quarterbacks in the 2028 class. That shouldn't come as a surprise given how quarterbacks tend to commit earlier than any other position on average in a recruiting class.
On the quarterback front, it is interesting that two of the three offers/re-offers went to quarterbacks committed to programs dealing with coaching changes this offseason in Michigan (Peter Bourque) and Ole Miss (Keegan Croucher). Franklin and his staff clearly sense that some of the instability may be able to create some new openings on the recruiting trail.
