Virginia Tech has taken over the college football world today as the Hokies announced that former Penn State head coach James Franklin would be their next head coach. The news of Franklin's hiring has received almost unanimous praise from across the college football world with many calling it a home run and some praising Franklin as having the strongest CFB resume that any head coaching hire has had in the history of the ACC, not just Virginia Tech.
Lots of big time recruits are also very excited about the news of James Franklin choosing Virginia Tech. Let's start with Penn State LB commit and Northern Virginia native Mathieu Lamah who had this to say about the news.
"Feels good, will try setting a visit up," Lamah said.
Lamah told me last week that he was still in contact with current OLBs coach Shawn Quinn and was continuing to consider VT while also monitoring James Franklin's situation. He is certainly a guy to keep an eye on for a visit this weekend.
The hiring of Franklin also caught the attention of four-star South Carolina OL commit Darius Gray out of Richmond who had this to say about the news.
