Virginia Tech head football coach Justin Fuente announced today that linebacker Sean Huelskamp will wear #25 in this weekend’s game against Miami.
Sean Huelskamp is a redshirt senior from Centreville, VA who joined the team as a walk-on his freshman year. He made a tackle in the 2014 Ohio State game before tearing his ACL later in the season. During the 2015 season, Huelskamp appeared in four games and made two starts, totaling 13 tackles for the Hokies, including 3.5 tackles for loss. He played in all 14 games last season, racking up 11 tackles.
Hueslkamp has five tackles and one QB hurry in eight games this season for the Hokies.
This is the second time that Huelskamp has worn the #25 jersey. He previously wore it in the Battle at Bristol against Tennessee during the 2016 season. Huelskamp finished that game with two tackles.
He joins a small group of Hokies that have been honored with the #25 jersey at least twice. That list includes cornerback Greg Stroman and safety Terrell Edmunds.
The #25 jersey is given to one special teams player each week to honor legendary head coach Frank Beamer, who wore #25 during his playing days for the Hokies.
