Linebacker may not be the highest priority for Virginia Tech in this transfer cycle, but the new rules allowing you to have 105 scholarship players open up some additional flexibility. There's also something to be said about pursuing talented players when they are available, with Tennessee LB Jalen Smith falling into that category.
Earlier this week, Smith was on campus at Virginia Tech with that visit going quite well as he concisely said.
"It went great," Smith said.
He added this on why this was a great visit for him.
"I really enjoyed the open conversation that we’re had and also the defensive scheme. Also, watching practice was nice because it showed me how the program is run and the intensity that they practice at," Smith said.
This was also a busy visit from watching practices to meeting with lots of the staff including head coach Brent Pry, as Smith told us.
