Virginia Tech made some noise in Richmond as three-star DB Noah Jenkins out of in-state powerhouse Highland Springs HS committed to the Hokies.
Jenkins chose the Hokies over other offers from Penn State, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Duke, West Virginia, UVA, Boston College, Indiana, Syracuse, and others.
He is the fourth defensive back to commit to the Hokies so far joining four-star CB Marcellus Barnes Jr, three-star CB Joshua Clarke, and three-star S Quentin Reddish. He is also the second in-state commit in this class joining the aforementioned Northern Virginia standout Clarke.
Brent Pry has mentioned he wants to take at least one recruit a year from some of the top programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia. So far, he's done just that at powerhouse Highland Springs signing DL Rashaud Pernell in the 2022 class, DB Braylon Johnson and WR Takye Heath in the 2023 class, and landing a commitment from Noah Jenkins for the 2024 class. That number has a chance to grow still this cycle with the Hokies interested in three-star QB Khristian Martin and three-star ATH George Lovelace III while LB Brennan Johnson is among Tech's 2025 LB targets.
We've seen the Hokies build some strong pipelines over the years with one of the more successful ones recently being at what was formerly Stonewall Jackson HS, now Unity Reed HS when the Hokies landed Greg Stroman, Reggie Floyd, and Tim Settle in a stretch where they signed at least 1 player from that school in 4 consecutive classes.
Jenkins is a strong addition for the Hokies with the versatility to play either cornerback or safety given his size at 6'1''-6'2'' and over 200 pounds that absolutely makes you believe that he could come in and make an impact even if just on special teams.
With Jenkins on board, Tech is close to done at defensive back with the Hokies still heavily pursuing Minnesota commit and three-star S Zahir Rainer who did take an official visit to VT last weekend. Some other potential in-state targets at DB should the Hokies not land Rainer but still want to take another DB include three-star ATH Kameron Courtney out of Northern Virginia, three-star CB Milton Ferguson out of the 757, and CB Javion Randall out of Richmond.
