Virginia Tech hosted a talented group of recruits over this year's Spring Game weekend including talented three-star DE Mason Robinson whose visit to Blacksburg went well as he told us.

"Great visit, 1st class, a lot of the alumni were there which made it easy to see that this place is just priming itself to be great again," Robinson said.

He expanded even more on why it was a "great visit" for him this past weekend.

"To be honest, the fans around campus and around town are just cool and really are excited about the team and told me about some of the big games that have been played in that stadium," Robinson said.

Robinson shared with us the itinerary for what happened on his "great" visit.

"We visited the facilities, met with the coaches, and heard from a lot of the former players. I got to hear the Fuller brothers story which was awesome. I've never met them but being from Baltimore, they are legends around here. Went to dinner at PK's as well," Robinson said.

Robinson spent time with both head coach Brent Pry along with DL coach J.C. Price and had this to say about Price when asked about the coaches he spent the most time with on his visit.

"Coach JC is super cool and hard nose at the same time. You can tell all the recruits love that guy. He calls it like it is and that's all you can ask for," Robinson said.

Mason Robinson had this to say about his time and conversations with Brent Pry.

"It was great. He let me know that this could be a great fit for me, but I need to see that for myself. The fans are excited about him as head coach," Robinson said.

There were also some things that made this a unique visit for Robinson as well as he shared with us.

"I met a few alumni at PK's. I can't remember his name, but he taught me how to play darts and politely beat me, lol. I got to see Kam Chancellor, Tyrod (Taylor) and a few other guys there. The food there smacks too!!" Robinson said.

So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where VT stands in it?

"It's definitely one of my top choices. I'm still trying to get a feel for the student life and whether it's a good fit," Robinson said.

He added this about why the Hokies are "definitely one of my top choices."

"I'm looking for a place that fits me. It [Virginia Tech] checks a lot of boxes: location, scheme, and degree choices," Robinson said.

Virginia Tech has been able to get Mason Robinson to campus multiple times in 2022 with the Hokies taking advantage of those opportunities to put themselves in strong position in the recruitment of one of their top defensive line targets.
