Three-Star DE Mason Robinson Recaps "Great" Virginia Tech Visit

Mason Robinson VT Pitt 2021

Three-star DE Mason Robinson has seen his recruitment take off recently gaining offers from Michigan, Oregon, Miami, Northwestern, and Duke just within the past week. While some teams are just entering Robinson's recruitment, others are rising up his ranks including Virginia Tech after hosting him in Blacksburg this past Saturday.

Robinson told us that he had a "great" visit to Virginia Tech and that it was "good to meet the entire new staff." He had this to say when expanding on why it was a great visit for him.

"I was able to get some questions answered that I had about the new staff. I was also able to get a good look around and talk scheme with Coach (J.C.) Price. I knew (Brent) Pry from Penn St but as a head coach, I just wanted to get a feel for how things will be ran," Robinson said.

Robinson also expanded on his conversations with DL coach J.C. Price including how he can schematically fit with the Hokies.

"He is a no frills type of guy. He sees me able to rush the passer and playing the edge. To be honest I don't care what I do, I just want to be on the field," Robinson said.

Robinson's visit schedule this weekend including touring the athletic facilities and Virginia Tech's campus, meeting with the coaching staff and student support staff, and getting to walk through the tunnel into Lane Stadium.

So what stood out the most for Mason Robinson during his visit?

"I would have to say the excitement of the staff," Robinson said. "Although some were new to the school, they really made it feel like someone like myself can help make an impact," Robinson said.

So where does Virginia Tech stand after Mason Robinson's visit?

"Virginia Tech solidified itself as a top school that my family and I am truly considering, but we will do our research and get our questions answered to see if it comes out on top," Robinson said.

Robinson added that Virginia Tech was "amongst the leaders" for him currently and had this to say about why that's the case.

"I think with a new staff, there may be an opportunity to play early, but I just want the opportunity to compete," Robinson said.

Looking ahead, Robinson told us that he will be taking a visit to Pittsburgh this weekend which comes after he started the January visit window by taking a trip to West Virginia.
