Three-star DT Aaris Bethea out of Brooklyn, NY was among the most prominent recruits on campus for the 2023 Virginia Tech Spring Game this past weekend. His visit went quite well as he told us.
"It was a great visit. Beautiful campus, and the energy and atmosphere from the fans was crazy. I was on the field near the tunnel when they played Enter Sandman, and I was hyped," Bethea said.
So what did Bethea do during his visit to VT?
"I met with Coach (J.C.) Price and Coach (Jan) Johnson over lunch. Then Coach Johnson took me to the weight room. We went to the game after that," Bethea said.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that Bethea spent a lot of time with DL coach J.C. Price with those conversations going well as he told us.
"I like Coach Price. He is passionate about VT and Blacksburg. He was telling me about the school and the area. We just had a general conversation. Seems like a cool guy to play for," Bethea said.
He had this to say about his time with defensive analyst Jan Johnson.
"It was great. He gave me a tour of the weight room and talked about how everything the players need is all in one area. He talked about the need to bring in more dawgs like me to add to the d-line," Bethea said.
One of the most unique things about this visit for Bethea was the fact that he saw so many Tech fans in town for the Spring Game making it look in some ways like a fall Saturday.
"The fan support for a spring game (was unique about this visit). The fans were tailgating like it was a real game and I really didn't expect to see that many people," Bethea said.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where VT stands in it?
"I really liked my visit to VT and can see myself coming back down for an official visit," Bethea said.
The Hokies have put themselves in the thick of it for three-star DT Aaris Bethea with the next objective being to get him back on campus for an official visit.
