Just over two weeks after he took a Virginia Tech official visit, the Hokies have sealed the deal and landed a commitment from three-star ATH Mose Phillips on Early Signing Day.
Phillips becomes the fourth player from the state of Tennessee to commit to the Hokies joining recent WR commits Chance Fitzgerald and Ayden Greene plus OL Lance Williams.
He chose the Hokies over offers from Virginia and Georgia Tech where he also took official visits to after his VT official on the first weekend of December, plus Tulane, JMU, Western Kentucky, Toledo, Army, Arkansas State, Akron, New Mexico State, and more.
Tech has not only continued their impressive recruiting surge of late but also done so by landing almost every high school recruit not committed to VT that has visited Blacksburg and who VT wanted excluding four-star LB Kaveion Keys who chose Penn State over the Hokies following his Penn State decommitment.
Shawn Quinn has done a great job building up the new staff's reputation in east and central Tennessee with it paying off this month with 3 new TN commits. Those parts of Tennessee are a part of Tech's footprint that had largely been overlooked till the Justin Fuente era somewhat but make a lot of sense to spend plenty of time recruiting given the growing talent base with the Hokies have lots of success in Tennessee this cycle.
We will have more as this story develops.
