Arena is the Hokies' fourth 2023 commit and third on the offensive line joining three-star OL Lance Williams out of Tennessee and OT Hannes Hammer out of Germany by way of Roanoke, VA's North Cross School. He chose the Hokies over a litany of offers from Temple, Marshall, Toledo, Western Michigan, Buffalo, and more.
Joe Rudolph is know for not offering a lot of offensive linemen and while Arena's initial offer was from the previous VT staff, it's clear that Rudolph also liked what he saw more than enough to maintain that offer now.
With Arena on board, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Hokies add a couple more offensive linemen this cycle given how depleted the position was when Rudolph arrived in terms of experienced depth. It's possible that Rudolph could look at saving one of those 2023 spots for a transfer or JUCO recruit while adding at least one more high school recruit seems very likely.
We will have more as this story develops.
