Virginia Tech was persistent throughout the recruitment of high three-star WR Ayden Greene even after he had committed to Cincinnati. Because of that, the Hokies were ready to pounce when Greene decommitted from the Bearcats following Luke Fickell's departure to Wisconsin and then landed Greene's commitment following his VT official visit.

Greene is the 20th commit for the Hokies and the fourth either true WR or probable WR at the moment joining Takye Heath, Marcell Baylor, and Jonathan Pennix. He chose the Hokies over other offers from Cincinnati, Arkansas where he took an official visit to in June, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Mississippi State, Virginia, West Virginia, Tulane, Memphis, Appalachian State, and more.
The Hokies deserve tons of credit for pouncing quickly on Ayden Greene once the door opened for a chance to flip his commitment following the departure of Luck Fickell to Cincinnati. Greene clearly was one of Fontel Mines' top WR targets this past spring and early summer with Mines and the Hokies continuing to push and taking advantage of the situation.
Greene will also come to Blacksburg knowing that there is plenty of opportunity for early playing time given the struggles of VT WRs this past season outside of Kaleb Smith who is in the transfer portal but hasn't ruled out a VT return.
We will have more as this story develops.
