Virginia Tech had a pair of midweek visitors from Ohio powerhouse Ironton including three-star WR Ty Perkins who had a great visit as he shared with on social media and with us.

"It was great, I got to go with my coaches and teammate Jaquez Keyes. Everyone was very welcoming as soon as we got there!" Perkins said.

Perkins shared this about what he did during his visit to the Blacksburg.

"We had the opportunity to be in the meeting rooms with the players and coaches. We then went to the players lounge which is unbelievable.. Me and Jaquez shot some basketball. We went and watched the whole practice, the intensity and competitiveness was through the roof. After that, we went to eat on campus, the food was really good. We then toured campus, the facilities, and got the chance to check out the basketball arena. We also got to take some pics with the jerseys! It was a very eventful and fun day," Perkins said.

So what made this a "great" visit for Perkins.

"Getting to meet (head) coach (Brent) Pry and (WRs) coach (Fontel) Mines, and seeing what Virginia Tech football was about," Perkins said.

His time with both Tech coaches went well with Perkins having this to say about his time and conversations with Brent Pry.

"My conversations with Coach Pry were great. He was very easy to talk to, and he was fun to watch coach during the practice," Perkins said.

Perkins added this about his time with Fontel Mines.

"Our conversation was awesome. Just like Coach Pry, he was easy to talk to. He said he loved my film and how I play," Perkins said.

There were a couple things that also made this visit unique as Perkins told us.

"The hospitality that the coaches and recruiting coordinators gave us was unreal," Perkins said.

Clearly, this visit went well for Ty Perkins and sets the bar for his upcoming trips to Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Duke, and Marshall.

So how did this visit impact the recruitment of Ty Perkins and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"The visit definitely impacts on where VT stands. Though I am still 100% open, I really like the VT campus and coaches."
