Virginia Tech has landed talented defensive linemen before from Delray Beach, FL in Luther Maddy and Dadi Nicolas. Now, the Hokies are looking to land another talented Delray Beach defensive lineman after offering three-star DE Earl Miller recently.
The good news for the Hokies is that they've continued to gain substantial traction in his recruitment.
Miller told us that the Hokies are among four teams currently standing out for him along with Boston College, Coastal Carolina, and Pittsburgh. These are also the four schools recruiting him the hardest with Pittsburgh being the only school among those four to have not offered him yet.
He told us that the Hokies are currently standing out in his recruitment because of their "amazing" program and the coaching staff.
Leading Tech's pursuit of Earl Miller has been defensive line coaches Bill Teerlinck and Darryl Tapp with Miller telling us that he hears from the Hokies "5 days out of the week." Additionally, Miller has built a great relationship with the Hokies' defensive line coaches as he described to us.
"It’s more of a friend relationship verses coach and player relationship which I love," Miller said.
Those friendships could prove very valuable for the Hokies' pursuit of Miller very soon with the three-star DT getting close to making a decision.
"So I'm probably going to make my top ten next week and then July for commiting somewhere," Miller said.
Miller is an intriguing prospect who told us that he is currently at 6'3'' and 265 pounds and seems to have the frame to grow more at defensive tackle. Additionally, Miller has shown some versatility working at end and tackle in high shool which could give Tech options at times in run defense heavy situations.
Earl Miller's recruitment is entering the final stages with the Hokies being right there at the top of the battle trying to hold off ACC competition and land another talented defensive lineman out of Delray Beach, FL.
