Virginia Tech Among Those Standing Out for Four-Star LB Zavier Hamilton

Zavier Hamilton VT Visit Spring 2022

Four-star LB Zavier Hamilton out of Gulf Breeze, Florida has emerged as one of Virginia Tech's top linebacker targets in the 2024 class. Hamilton already has several schools standing out for him including the Hokies as he shared with us.

"Auburn, Virginia Tech, Clemson, LSU, Michigan, UCF, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Mississippi State have all reached out to me the most, and as of recent Baylor," Hamilton said.

He had this to say about why the Hokies are among those currently standing out i his recruitment.

"My relationship with the staff, they are amazing and genuine people, and Coach (Chris) Marve is one the most real coaches I’ve met throughout this entire process and is someone I would love to play under if I went there," Hamilton said.

He told us that he is in regular contact with defensive coordinator/LBs coach Chris Marve and expanded on his relationship with the Hokies' DC who Hamilton has been recruited by for years.

"Coach Marve has been recruiting me since I was freshman while he was at FSU. He really cares about me and my family and asks me how they are doing all the time. He was one of the first coaches who I could talk about stuff other than football and he is one of the best coaches in the country. I feel our relationship is great," Hamilton said.

Hamilton is a big time talent who has loads of offers which shouldn't come as a surprise after he had a good junior season making plays all over the field with 52 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 interception, 2 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery. So how would he describe the strengths and weaknesses of his game?

"My strengths are definitely my versatility, being able to be moved all around the field, and being extremely productive at all secondary positions and in the box as well as on the line. I would say my weaknesses are that sometimes I get caught with undisciplined eyes and not reading my key correctly," Hamilton said.

Hamilton has plans to visit Arkansas this Saturday while he is also either planning or looking to visit Virginia Tech, Clemson, LSU, South Carolina, Auburn, and UCF soon. Those visits likely will be coming in the next couple months based on the decision timeline Hamilton shared with us.

"I will be dropping my top ten soon, sometime in February. Then, I will be looking to commit between March and April," Hamilton said.

So what will be the key factors when he makes his decision?

"The culture, a good learning environment, and the roster room," Hamilton said.

Virginia Tech is right in the hunt for four-star LB Zavier Hamilton with Chris Marve and the Hokies hoping that Hamilton can be one of their foundational recruits they land early on to build this class up.
