Virginia Tech Among Those Standing Out For Three-Star DT Emmett Laws

Three-star DT Emmett Laws has clearly emerged as one of the Hokies' top defensive tackle targets currently for the 2024 class. The good news for the Hokies is that they also have lots of traction with Laws.

He recently told us that the Hokies are among 5 currently standing out for him along with Penn State, Maryland, USF, and South Carolina with all 5 other than the Gamecocks having offered him. He had this to say about why the Hokies are currently standing out for him.

"Definitely my relationship with JC Price. He is a great coach and definitely a great person, and he is known for taking people to the next level, but also because it’s a great school," Laws said.

He also expanded on his relationship with VT DL coach JC Price and what impresses him about Price.

"He's a good coach. I really like JC Price. He keeps it real with me, and he definitely does an amazing job coaching his guys to get them to the next level," Laws said.

He also added that Tech is among those recruiting him the hardest along with Maryland, Pittsburgh, and Penn State. That shouldn't come as a surprise after Laws had a productive season for Baltimore powerhouse DeMatha Catholic with 60 tackles including 6 sacks.

So how would Laws describe the strengths of his game that have him develop into a big time recruit and the weaknesses that he is working to improve the most?

"My strengths definitely are getting off the ball fast, my twitchy-ness and definitely how strong I am. My weakness is learning more of the game of football," Laws said.

Looking ahead, Laws told us that he is looking to take visits to Virginia Tech, Maryland, South Carolina, and USF. He added that he doesn't have any dates set at the moment though he plans to take his visit to Blacksburg "later in the spring."

Virginia Tech is off to a strong start in their recruitment of three-star DT Emmett Laws, but have plenty of competition to battle with in-state Maryland, Penn State, and others.
