Just days ahead of Virginia Tech's inaugural game for the 2026 season, Lane Stadium now has a new sponsorship logo on the field, and it's Virginia Credit union.

On Sept. 3, the Hokies announced the first-ever corporate sponsor logo in program history. The logo will be between the 20 and 30 yard lines on either side of the field. Athletic director Brian White had this to say in a press release about the partnership.

"We have tremendous momentum within our athletics department and partnerships like this are another example of how we intend to build on it,” said Brian White, Virginia Tech vice president and director of athletics. “Virginia Credit Union is an outstanding organization with deep roots across the Commonwealth, and we’re proud to strengthen a relationship that creates meaningful value for both organizations and for Hokie Nation."

Virginia Tech's multimedia partner Playfly Sports played a significant role in putting this deal together.

Virginia Credit Union leadership had this to say about the deal in a press release.

"We’re thrilled to partner with Virginia Tech football and be part of the excitement surrounding the team,” said Chris Shockley, president and CEO of Virginia Credit Union. “As Virginia Tech continues to build momentum, this sponsorship gives us a meaningful opportunity to support the Hokies, engage fans, and strengthen our presence in the communities we serve."

Details regarding how much Virginia Credit Union is paying for the sponsorship and how long the partnership is for have not been revealed as of this time.

In the world of college football, where things are changing day-by-day, this was an expected move for the Hokies and nearly every other program in the country. The goal in the sport right now is to monetize as much as possible and bring in as much money as you can, and this partnership does just that.
