Jackson was hired by Mike Young last offseason, coming to Blacksburg after a seven-year tenure as an assistant for Cincinnati under Mick Cronin. Prior to that, Jackson spent several years at UMASS and William & Mary after a prominent coaching career at the high school and AAU levels in the Washington D.C. area.
One of the top candidates to replace Jackson will be Virginia Tech special assistant Kevin Giltner, who came with Young to Blacksburg after spending six seasons at Wofford, five of which came as an assistant coach.
If it isn't an internal promotion, don't be surprised to see Virginia Tech prioritize someone with Mid-Atlantic connections and likely a younger coach on the rise in the industry to join a staff that includes a pair of lvery likely future head coaches in Chester Frazier and Christian Webster.
We will have more as this story develops.
