The 2022 NFL Combine is in full swing with this being a great chance for plenty of the best athletes in the 2022 NFL Draft to boost their draft stock significantly. Going into this weekend, Virginia Tech DE Amare Barno seemed like one player in particular who could benefit greatly from the Combine.
While the 40 yard dash and 10 yard split are only two metrics, Barno put up a spectacular time

Amare Barno ran an insane 4.37 40 yard dash that for now is one of the fastest among all players at the NFL Combine and not just the fastest among defensive linemen. Additionally, Barno's 1.54 10 yard split is also really good and likely will impress NFL scouts regarding Barno's explosiveness even more than his 40 yard dash time.
Now the time is currently unofficial at 4.37 but if that time stands or is still less than 4.41 seconds, that would break the NFL Combine record for a 40 yard dash for a defensive lineman that was previously set by current Washington Commanders DL Montez Sweat at 4.41.
Update
After further review, Barno's official 40 yard dash time came out at an insane 4.36, one hundredth of a second faster than his unofficial time and officially giving him the modern NFL Combine record for defensive linemen.
Barno's explosiveness showed beyond his 10 and 40 yard times as he led the defensive line group in the broad jump while also ranking highly in the vertical, 2 more important tests for explosiveness at the Combine.
