Virginia Tech Football Recruiting Notes 5/24/22

Rodney Gallagher May 17th 2022 VT Visit

Virginia Tech has been busy on the recruiting trail throughout May which included landing another commitment from in-state standout ATH Takye Heath recently. Here's more updates surrounding the Hokies on the recruiting trail.

4* LB Ta'Mere Robinson

Four-star LB Ta'Mere Robinson was among the talented group of recruits from the Pittsburgh area who visited Virginia Tech last Tuesday and had this to say about how his visit went.

"The visit was great! The coaching staff showed me a great time," Robinson said.

Robinson expanded on what made it a "great" visit for him as well.

"The new coaching staff and just the vibe that I caught from them all. Also, the group of linebacker coaches they have," Robinson said.

Those are great signs that Virginia Tech was successfully able to turn Robinson's first visit to Blacksburg into actual momentum in his recruitment. Of course, it will be critical for the Hokies to get Robinson on campus for an official visit to fully build on that momentum.

Tech definitely made a strong impression on Robinson and should be considered a contender in his recruitment going forward.

4* WR Rodney Gallagher

After visiting Virginia Tech last week, four-star WR Rodney Gallagher announced recently that he is ready to make his decision this Wednesday afternoon.

The Hokies are among his final 8 schools and the fact that Tech did host him last weekend seems to indicate some legitimately strong interest may be there. West Virginia has been rumored heavily as well by many experts including those behind the 247 Sports' Crystal Ball.

The proximity from Morgantown to Western PA shouldn't make WVU's ability to gain traction a surprise while Penn State and Pittsburgh also could be schools to watch especially the Nittany Lions.

It would likely be a surprise for Tech to land Gallagher given that it was his first visit to Blacksburg, but Tech's staff does have plenty of PA connections led by Brent Pry, Tyler Bowen, and Joe Rudolph. If those connections can pull this off after only one visit, it would be an extremely strong fulfillment of Tech's staffing intent to improve recruiting when Brent Pry was brought in.
