Virginia Tech is right in the hunt for four-star DT Tyleik Williams. More on Williams, a top wide receiver target, and a 2022 here in our latest Virginai Tech football recruiting notes.
4* DT Tyleik Williams
Virginia Tech is right in the hunt for one of their top overall targets, four-star DT Tyleik Williams, with the Hokies making the top 6 for him.

The Hokies were joined by Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, North Carolina, and South Carolina in the top 6 for Williams with UVA being among the most notable offers left off his top 6.
Williams is one of the clear cut top recruits in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is unsurprisingly one of Tech's top overall targets. Additionally, Williams comes at a defensive tackle spot where the Hokies are looking to take a pair of players with none currently committed after the decommitment of Tyas Martin, and Williams being the top guy on the board.
One advantage Tech does have beyond being the in-state power is the fact that Williams' Stonewall Jackson HS has been arguably VT's strongest pipeline in recent years. The list of Hokies out of Stonewall Jackson is illustrious and includes Ryan Williams, Tim Settle, Greg Stroman, and Reggie Floyd.
3* WR Skyler Bell
Skyler Bell continues to be high on the board for Virginia Tech at wide receiver with Justin Fuente and Jafar Williams leading the charge. Bell has built strong relationship with both Fuente and Williams and in part because of that, the Hokies are right there among the main contenders.
Bell told us that the Hokies are among five currently standing out for him along with Wisconsin, Iowa, West Virginia, and Rutgers. Wisconsin in particular is currently making a hard push and should be considered a top contender at the moment for Bell.
Bell seemed close to committing to Iowa earlier but since slowing things down, the Badgers have emerged as a frontrunner while Virginia Tech has also become a larger contender in his recruitment. Bell also seems to be rising up Tech's board given the regular involvement of Justin Fuente in his recruitment.
2022 3* TE Jack Nickel
2022 is also likely to be a larger class with Tech likely to try to sign 1-2 tight ends that cycle. One of those targets will be three-star TE Jack Nickel out of Alpharetta, GA.
Nickel told us that the Hokies are among the schools currently recruiting him the hardest along with Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Florida State, Ohio State, and Colorado. He added that he hears from the Hokies on a weekly basis.
Nickel also told us that Tech is "definitely in the mix" for him and that he is planning on visiting for a game this upcoming fall. Additionally, Nickel told us that Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Florida State are schools that are also standing out in his recruitment.
The Fighting Irish in particular could be an intriguing team to watch as they landed a Georgia tight end this cycle in Cane Berrong. However, Tech should be seen as a serious threat with Nickel working to set up a Zoom call with TEs coach James Shibest soon.
Keep an eye on Nickel as a top tight end target in the 2022 class for VT.
