With 2022 recruiting truly kickoff today, we take a look at a few 2022 recruits to keep an eye on in part 2 of today's Virginia Tech football recruiting notes.

2022 4* OT Collin Sadler

Four-star offensive tackle Collin Sadler has emerged as one of the best 2022 offensive tackles on the East Coast with the Greenville, SC recruit hearing from so many schools, he described the volume as "you name it, I've heard from them."

Among those teams unsurprisingly was Virginia Tech.

Sadler told us that he heard from both head coach Justin Fuente and offensive line coach Vance Vice. He added that he has been "speaking for some time now" with Fuente and has built up a "great" relationship with the Hokies' leader.

Sadler is definitely a national recruit with tons of schools wanting to land the talented offensive tackle. However, it may be a tough battle to beat in-state Clemson who doesn't offer Palmetto State recruits often, but should have a great chance at keeping Sadler at home since they have offered him.

Collin Sadler will definitely be a high target for VT, but the Hokies have an uphill battle trying to beat out Clemson for a recruit from South Carolina.

2022 3* DE Joshua Josephs

Corey Fuller may have just recently joined the Virginia Tech football staff, but he was ready to when the clock turned midnight with one of the first 2022 recruits he contacted being three-star DE Joshua Josephs.

Fuller was also the first coach that Josephs heard from after midnight last night with defensive line coach Darryl Tapp also reaching out to Josephs. Additionally, Josephs has heard from West Virginia, Louisville, Georgia Tech, and Memphis since midnight.

He had this to say about his conversations with Fuller and Tapp, and Tech's message for him.

"They were good. They wanted me to make sure I’m on top of everything and help my mom out with her restaurant really. They have my respect," Josephs said.

Josephs recently told us that the Hokies were also standing out for him with Tech off to a very strong start in his recruitment with Tapp and Fuller likely helping the Hokies' position with the respect that Josephs has for them.

2022 QB Owen McCown

Virginia Tech made it clear that Owen McCown, who recently moved to Texas, is going to be one of their top quarterback targets in the 2022 class.

McCown told us that he heard from head coach Justin Fuente, offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen, and recruiting assistant Beau Davidson since midnight. He had this to say about his conversation with Fuente who made it clear that he was impressed by McCown's first game of the season.

"It was good. He just said that I looked good the other night and is looking forward to getting to know me," McCown said.

McCown also received interest from multiple other schools including Cincinnati, Appalachian State, Middle Tennessee, Coastal Carolina, and Lamar. While McCown hasn't received too much Power 5 interest likely largely due to him being stuck behind 4* QB and UNC commit Drake Maye at his previous school, his strong opening game that included 4 touchdowns sets him up well to see his recruitment grow.

Keep an eye on Owen McCown as the Hokies look at trying to land the son of long-time NFL QB Josh McCown.
