Virginia Tech women’s basketball continued its strong work on the recruiting trail Wednesday, landing a commitment from highly regarded 2027 point guard Jazman Bailey.
Bailey, a 5-foot-9 guard from Lake Ridge High School in Mansfield, Texas, announced her commitment to Megan Duffy and the Hokies, becoming the third member of Virginia Tech’s 2027 recruiting class.
The Texas standout is considered one of the better guards in the country for her class. ESPN ranks Bailey as the No. 41 overall player in the 2027 cycle, while Rivals is even higher on her, placing her at No. 33 nationally.
Virginia Tech also had to beat out an impressive list of programs to land her commitment. Bailey held offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Louisville, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, UCLA and Vanderbilt, among others.
Her résumé extends well beyond the high school level.
Bailey has extensive experience with USA Basketball, helping the United States capture a gold medal at the 2025 FIBA U16 AmeriCup in Mexico. She started all six games during that tournament and has been part of the U16 and U17 Women's National Teams over the past two summers.
At the FIBA U17 World Cup in 2026, Bailey appeared in six games and recorded nine points, 16 assists and nine rebounds.
Bailey has also put together a productive career at Lake Ridge. She surpassed 1,000 career points during her junior season while helping the Eagles finish with a 19-7 record. She is one of 11 Texas prospects included in ESPN’s top 100 for the 2027 class.
Her commitment gives Duffy another major piece in what is becoming a talented 2027 group.
Bailey joins fellow guards Dani Robinson and Lillie Graves as Virginia Tech’s three commitments in the class. Robinson, a 5-foot-10 guard, is ranked No. 38 nationally by ESPN, while the 6-foot Graves checks in at No. 60.
That gives the Hokies three top-60 prospects already committed in the 2027 cycle, including two inside ESPN’s top 50.
The addition also continues a larger recruiting trend under Duffy. Virginia Tech has now secured commitments from seven top-100 prospects as the program continues to build its future roster around nationally regarded talent.
For Bailey, Blacksburg will be the next stop after a high school career that has already included more than 1,000 points, international competition and a gold medal.
For Virginia Tech, she represents another significant addition to a 2027 recruiting class that continues to take shape.
