Virginia Tech has their third transfer portal entrant since the dismissal of Brent Pry as linebacker Michael Short has decided to redshirt and transfer.

Short's decision comes after he only played four games for Virginia Tech after transferring in from North Carolina this offseason. During his four games at Virginia Tech, Short had 21 tackles including four for loss with one sack plus 10 total stops per PFF. He earned an overall grade of 57.4 from PFF including a 74.7 in run defense and 33.9 in coverage.

He will have two years of eligibility following his decision to redshirt. He joins CB Dante Lovett and WR Tucker Holloway in entering the transfer portal since Pry's dismissal. Both Short and Lovett had redshirts available while Holloway expects to gain an extra year via a medical redshirt.
