Virginia Tech Leads For Three-Star CB Misun Kelley With Decision Looming

VT Fans 1

Virginia Tech's 2023 recruiting class is mostly done at this point in terms of high school targets. However, there are a still a couple HS targets remaining including three-star CB Misun Kelley who the Hokies offered just last month.

Since then, Tech has kept the momentum going from being "number 1" at that point to now being the leader for Kelley as he told us. He had this to say about why the Hokies are the leader in his recruitment.

"Because of the way they run things as a team and whole, and how they treat recruits," Kelley said.

Tech's pursuit of Kelley has been led by CBs coach Derek Jones and chief of staff Michael Hazel with Kelley telling us the he has a "very close" relationship with Jones. Kelley says that his relationship with Jones is close due to the conversations he has with Jones both directly and via text.

Kelley also said that he has a "very close" relationship with Michael Hazel.

This comes as a decision is coming this "Friday" as Kelley told us after sending out a tweet stating that he would be making a decision this upcoming week.

Now it's important to note that we spoke with Kelley prior to this tweet and that Kelley has told us nothing regarding where he has committed. Louisville has also been a top challenger while Florida and Oklahoma have also shown interest in him though if they have chosen to offer him, that's not public at a moment.

It wouldn't be surprising if more Power 5 schools show interest in Kelley especially after he had a strong start to his season as a two-way player with "6 catches for over 130 yards plus a couple of tackles and pass breakups, and 2 TDS."

Looking ahead, Kelley told us that his personal goals for the season include having "over 1,000 receiving yards, 40 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and 8 interceptions."

Virginia Tech is at the front for Misun Kelley and hoping to land his commitment on Friday to finish off their 2023 high school DB class.
