Virginia Tech Makes the Top 2 For RB Caleb Steward

The Virginia Tech Hokies traditionally have had success recruiting in Florida with VT having two commits so far from, the Sunshine State in three-star DBs Chamarri Conner and Braxton Clark. In particular, VT has found some talented recruits from the Jacksonville area including Isaiah Ford recently and Chamarri Conner this cycle. However, Conner isn't the only Jacksonville recruit who may end up a Hokie. Jacksonville RB Caleb Steward released his top 2 today which included Virginia Tech and South Florida, eliminating Duke, Wake Forest, and Purdue who made his top 5. Steward has a solid offer list that includes Virginia Tech, Duke, Wake Forest, Boston College, Purdue, USF, Temple, East Carolina, Southern Miss, Appalachian State, and more. Steward is currently rated as a two-star recruit by Rivals and the 247 Sports Composite. Steward has become a top RB target with Virginia Tech being one of the first to offer with multiple power 5 schools and USF following the Hokies' lead. VT has continued to have him high on their board since offering him at the beginning of May and have emerged as the favorite as he has began to cut down his list of schools. Zohn Burden is leading the charge for Steward and will definitely want to beat out USF for the talented Jacksonville RB with Burden being a great recruiter that definitely should make Hokie fans confident. While VT is the favorite, USF can't be ruled out as while they are outside the power 5, they do have an in-state edge along with having well-respected Charlie Strong as their head coach. What does appear clear is that Caleb Steward is getting very close to a decision with one seeming likely to come within the next few weeks now that he is down to his final 2. At this point, the Hokies are the favorites to get the talented Jacksonville RB, but don't expect them to slow down their big push for Steward.
