Offensive line is a high priority for Virginia Tech in the Class of 2018 with the Hokies looking to bring in around 4-5 offensive linemen this cycle. So far, the Hokies don't have an offensive line commit but VT is in the running for a few quality linemen including making the top 5 for one talented Pennsylvanian.
Three-star OT Blake Zubovic released his top 5 today which included Virginia Tech, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, and Maryland with Zubovic planning to make a commitment by the end of June. Zubovic has a strong offer list that includes West Virginia, Minnesota, NC State, Northwestern, Virginia, Boston College, Rutgers, Temple, Buffalo, and Toledo in addition to his top 5.
Zubovic is a well-rated offensive tackle with him being ranked as the 41st best OT by the 247 Sports Composite, 36th best by 247 Sports, 33rd best by Rivals, and the 27th best OG by ESPN. Zubovic is also well-regarded among Pennsylvania recruits with ESPN, Rivals, 247 Sports, and the 247 Sports Composite all having him as one of the Keystone State's top 16 2018 recruits.
Virginia Tech appears to have enough traction with Zubovic to make the top 5, but the Hokies have a lot of work to do here with VT being one of the underdogs in what appears to be setting up to be an in-state recruiting battle between Pittsburgh and Penn State. Pittsburgh is seen as the favorite by the 247 Sports Crystal Ball and from what we've been hearing, the Panthers are the favorite to get the Pittsburgh area OT.
However, Virginia Tech has made what will likely be the last cut for Zubovic before his decision, giving the Hokies a shot at pulling a surprise and adding a quality offensive lineman.
