Virginia Tech has extended a wider net of offers under Justin Fuente especially in places like Alabama where the Hokies recently offered 2020 three-star OT Brady Ward.
Ward had this to say about his reaction to being offered by Virginia Tech and how it impacts his recruitment.
"It was good. I like the coaching staff and I’ve followed the team for a few years just because they are in the ACC," Ward said. "When I get offers, I evaluate the school, football program, tradition, staff, and a few other things. VT is among the elite in all of those so they will get a serious look from me."
Ward is also the first recruit that I can remember that tweeted out a video of Enter Sandman as a part of announcing his VT offer, a sign that Ward already has a good impression of the Hokies from what he's seen on TV.
What is clear from how Ward was offered is that Virginia Tech OL coach Vance Vice is very high on Brady Ward.
"My coach told me (about the offer). He met with Coach Wiggins. He said Coach vice told him (Holmon Wiggins) not to leave Mobile without offering me," Ward said.
Ward is being recruited heavily by several other schools as well including LSU, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt while Clemson and Oklahoma are both showing lots of interest despite not offering him yet.
Ward told us that he does plan to work on scheduling a visit to Virginia Tech. Additionally, Ward has plans to visit Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss in the near future.
Looking ahead, Ward told us that he wants to have a top 5 sometime during the month of April.
Vance Vice has Brady Ward as a top offensive line target in the 2020 class with Virginia Tech making that clear in offering the massive Alabama offensive tackle.
