Virginia Tech has extended multiple 2019 running back offers recently, but the Hokies also recently offered a 2020 running back out of Texas, Ja'Bray Young.

"I was shocked and very excited at the same time," Young said about receiving a VT offer. "I’m just humbled to receive a offer from Virginia Tech, and I’m just going to keep working hard throughout this whole process."
The Hokies are the fifth offer for Ja'Bray Young and fourth from a power 5 school. VT is also the third school to offer Young this week alongside Boston College and Kansas.
Young knew that the Hokies had interest in him after Brad Cornelsen recently visited him at his school in Melissa, Texas. The 2020 RB isn't the only recruit in Texas whom VT offered after visiting as 2021 QB Preston Stone also received a Hokies' offer when coaches visited him in Texas.
Young currently does not have any visits scheduled, but he did tell us that he is actively working on his visit plans with the hopes to visit the schools that have offered him. He also added that SMU is "probably" the school that has been recruiting him the hardest previously though that may change with his recent offers.
Under Justin Fuente, Virginia Tech has shown a lot of willingness into non-traditional recruiting territories for VT like Texas. Getting him on campus will be critical for Virginia Tech's chances with Ja'Bray Young but for now, the Hokies have made a good first impression.
