The transfer portal doesn’t fully open till December 9th but there are already a lot of FCS grad transfers plus some other FBS players available to enter in for various reasons whether they’re grad transfers or their head coach was fired. Yesterday, the Hokies extended their first offer that was made public of this cycle to VMI’s All-SoCon First Team left tackle Tyriq Poindexter (note that the Hokies have hosted Indiana WR transfer Donaven McCulley earlier this fall so it can be assumed he holds a VT offer).
Poindexter had this to say about his reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer.
“I was very excited to hear that I got offered. I didn’t think I would get an offer from a place like that so soon,” Poindexter said.
The Roanoke native Poindexter received the offer during a phone conversation with assistant OL coach Austin Fields, adding this on how that conversation went as a whole.
