After months of anticipation, the Virginia Tech Football programs revealed their new uniforms for the 2024 seasons, albeit a day earlier than originally planned after those uniforms leaked on social media due to a EA College Football 25 video from YouTube that involved the Hokies in their new uniforms.

The new uniforms are a throwback to the mid to late 1990s uniforms for the Hokies with the simple Chicago Maroon home jersey with white numbers. One of the nuanced differences is the Hokie Stone texture for the numbers that is on both the home and road jerseys for Tech. The jerseys also features orange numbers on the shoulder pads along with orange trim around the front and back numbers.

When Brent Pry has discussed the new uniform development previously, he mentioned that former Hokies on his staff like J.C. Price and Pierson Prioleau were involved in the process and shown various prototypes of the jerseys as part of the process. Clearly, Pry and Virginia Tech as a whole wanted to go back to their modern roots in many ways building on the original 1999 throwbacks that were brought out during the 2021 season, with a permanent shift to the mid-to-late 1990s look.

Personally, I think this is as good of a look as the Hokies have had in a long time. I don't consider myself a fashion or style expert, but the jerseys are simple yet nuanced, creating a sharp look that also embraces both the program's legacy along with the Hokie Stone backdrop on the numbers providing a unique VT feature.

It's hard to get near 100% agreement on anything it seems like nowadays, yet that seems to be the case regarding the approval of these jerseys from Hokie fans. Now the focus shifts from the jerseys to the players who will be wearing these jerseys this fall, with the most anticipated Virginia Tech football season in over a decade being less than two months away now.
