The Hokies will take the field against the Blue Devils wearing maroon helmets, white jerseys, and maroon pants. This will be the first game this season in which Virginia Tech will wear maroon pants. The Hokies have worn three different uniform combinations so far this season, but all of them have included white pants.
The Hokies are 1-0 in maroon helmets this season, defeating Florida State in Week 1 while donning maroon lids. Those helmets were different, though, as they were matte maroon. This weekend’s uniform will break out the regular maroon helmets for the first time this season.
The Duke game also marks the second time that the Hokies will wear white jerseys this season. They are 1-0 in white this season after wearing the color against FSU.
This is a classic look for Virginia Tech after wearing the orange jerseys last week. Maroon-white-maroon always looks good no matter the opponent or where the game is being held, but I especially like it for away games. Breaking out unique uniforms (such as orange) is fun, but a white jersey for an away game just feels right.
This uniform combo brings together a good mix of all of the colors in Virginia Tech’s scheme. There is no color that is too overbearing and every color is well represented.
Virginia Tech fans can see these uniforms in action when the Hokies take the field against Duke at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The ACC clash will be broadcast on ESPN2.
