Whit Babcock has made improving Cassell Coliseum a high priority with Virginia Tech set to replace Cassell's old wooden seats with wider, more comfortable seats that are also expected to slightly decrease the capacity of Cassell Coliseum. These new seats are only the beginning of the renovations to Cassell Coliseum and to help fund these renovations, Virginia Tech is doing a unique fundraiser that gives fans the chance to own a piece of Cassell Coliseum history.

Virginia Tech announced today that they will be selling a select number of the Cassell Coliseum seats that are being replaced. These seats have been in Cassell Coliseum since it opened in 1962 and can be bought in a pair for $375. If you decide to buy a pair of seats, you will have to make the trip to Blacksburg to pick up these seats or pay someone to do so due to the heavy weight of these seats that would make it quite challenging and expensive for Virginia Tech to ship these seats.
This is a great opportunity for Virginia Tech fans to purchase a part of Virginia Tech athletic and Cassell Coliseum history with these seats that were in Cassell Coliseum since the arena opened in 1962. While many fans may not have liked the comfort of these wooden seats when attending games in Cassell Coliseum, this select number of seats will almost certainly sell out given the uniqueness of this opportunity.
This fundraiser is another great move by Virginia Tech not only to give Hokie fans a chance at owning a piece of Cassell Coliseum history but also to raise some money to perform some of the minor upgrades that are planned to enhance the gameday experience along with maximizing the value of these 55-year old seats.
