Virginia Tech has been evaluating Prince Kollie for a while with Kollie showing plenty of interest in the Hokies with numerous visits over the past year. Tech didn't want to rush to offer Kollie until they were certain, rather than give out a token offer, with Kollie receiving some great news this week.

Prince Kollie told us that he was "speechless" calling this offer "one that I've waited on for a while." Kollie received the offer after a phone call with Virginia Tech defensive coordinator/safeties coach Justin Hamilton.
Kollie had this to say about how his conversation went with Justin Hamilton including how Hamilton made the message clear that Tech's offer meant that Kollie is a priority for Virginia Tech.
"The reason I said I’ve waited for song long is because I thought it would come sooner. I’ve been there multiple times and from speaking in person. I was very positive it would come and he mentioned it took so long because he wants it to mean something and it is not just any regular “Twitter” offer," Kollie said.
Kollie is a versatile athlete who can play numerous positions, but the Hokies are currently pursuing the talented recruit from Tennessee as a safety. That's a big reason why Justin Hamilton has been leading the charge in his recruitment with Kollie with the two having a good understanding of each other.
Overall, that's one of the reasons why Kollie told us that the Hokies were in his "top mix" of schools alongside Virginia and Wake Forest. He had this to say about why Tech was specifically among that group.
"I’ve been there more than I have been anywhere else. Coach Hamilton coached my current coach, coach Chandley, at a different college (UVA-Wise) so that helps that they know each other personally," Kollie said.
Kollie has definitely visited Virginia Tech a lot as well telling us that he's taken 5 visits to Virginia Tech with his most recent one coming in January, something that could very advantageous given the current dead period that will run at least through the end of May.
Prince Kollie may be a recent offer for Virginia Tech, but it's clear that the Hokies are ready to make him a priority and given the amount of times he's visited Blacksburg, it seems safe to say that Tech will be a top contender in his recruitment going forward.
