Virginia Tech WR Tayvion Robinson Enters The Transfer Portal

Tayvion Robinson 2 VT UR From VT 2021

New Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry's most important short term recruiting focus may have emerged today as star WR and punt returner Tayvion Robinson has reportedly entered the transfer portal as first reported by Andy Bitter of The Athletic.

Robinson had the best season of his career in 2021 with a career high 44 receptions for 559 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also became one of the best punt returners in America averaging 13.7 yards per punt return which ranked 5th in the country while his 328 total punt return yards rank third in the country along with a punt return TD this season.

Robinson was poise to be one of the biggest stars for Virginia Tech in 2022 and a dynamic difference maker for a Tech team already losing one to the NFL in Tre Turner and potentially another in James Mitchell if he doesn't choose to return.

Brent Pry will have a big task trying to keep Robinson who will almost certainly have an impressive list of suitors from the best in the country especially due to his punt return prowess. Alabama feels like a school to watch give that former VT WRs coach Holmon Wiggins is the WRs coach there.

If Tech can't get Pry back, then it will be a young and unproven receiving corps for the Hokies in 2022 led by veteran Kaleb Smith and talented freshman Da'Wain Lofton who has shown lots of promise in recent weeks.

We will have more as this story develops.
