Virginia Tech fans received some great news on Tuesday as the Hokies' top four wide receivers announced that they will be returning for the 2024 season instead of turning pro and declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Those four receivers are Da'Quan Felton, Jaylin Lane, Ali Jennings, and Stephen Gosnell who have completely flipped Tech's wide receiver room from a weakness to not only a strength for the Hokies, but also giving VT one of the best WR groups in the ACC and east of the Mississippi.

This is a huge boost for a Virginia Tech offense that made significant strides this past season and will have a true incumbent quarterback in 2024 in Kyron Drones to once again lead the way.

Jennings was supposed to be the lead star of this group and did shine in his Virginia Tech debut with five catches for 72 yards and two touchdowns against his former team Old Dominion. However, an injury suffered in the first quarter against Purdue ended his season but there's no doubt that Jennings is a big time playmaker who feels almost like a major addition for the 2024 team rather than a major retention given that.

Jaylin Lane was projected to be the other primary star receiver for the Hokies and was just that with 37 catches for 524 yards and six touchdowns. An injury suffered in the second half of the Purdue game did slow him down some, limiting his production somewhat. However, Lane was a reliable target all over the field to either keep the chains moving on quick passes or create big plays whenever he got space over the middle on RPOs and other routes, being able to turn on the jets in an instant.

Da'Quan Felton didn't get off to the fastest start this season but as the season progressed, Felton stepped his game up and found some much-needed consistency. The Norfolk State transfer was the top star WR in the end leading the Hokies with 38 catches for 667 yards and eight touchdowns.

In the process, Felton showed off tremendous speed and if he can develop more of those bigger receiver skills that his 6'5'' frame gifts him the upside for, he could become a major NFL Draft prospect who gets selected on the first two days of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Stephen Gosnell may not be a star, but he was a steady receiver for the Hokies this season who stepped his game up with 22 catches for 347 yards and two touchdowns. Gosnell projects to be WR4, but there's no doubt that Gosnell should play a significant role in this offense and should continue to get better even if the loaded WR room means the statistical jump isn't there in 2024.

Tech's WR room will once again be one of Tech's biggest strengths in 2024 led by the loaded lead group of Ali Jennings, Jaylin Lane, Da'Quan Felton, and Stephen Gosnell.

Awesome news

Jennings back is actually an addition as you stated in the article

With our deep threat TE in the portal this gives someone like Bowen to use more 4 wideout sets in special circumstances
