Tremaine Edmunds Named a Finalist for the Butkus Award

Tremaine Edmunds 3
Most consider Tremaine Edmunds one of America's best linebackers and earlier this season, he was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, which is given to the best linebacker in the country. Today, the Butkus Award released their finalists for their award. https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/932629304978083840 Tremaine Edmunds was one of five finalists named for the Butkus Award. The other finalists are Michigan's Devin Bush, Clemson's Dorian O'Daniel, Georgia's Roquan Smith, and Wisconsin's TJ Edwards. Edmunds has earned this honor as he leads the Hokies with 94 tackles and 3 forced fumbles in addition to having 11 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 4 QB hurries, and 2 pass breakups. Edmunds has stepped up his game this season and while he many only have 11 tackles for loss, he's stopped plenty of players at the line of scrimmage or for a minimal gain. Tremaine Edmunds is well on his way to being an All-ACC First Team linebacker and is making a strong case to be named an All-American this season. When comparing the numbers of the five finalists, it's clear that Edmunds actually has a shot at winning this award. If Edmunds were to win the Butkus Award, he would be the first Hokie to do so in the award's 33-year history. Congrats to Tremaine Edmunds on being named a finalist for the Butkus Award.
