Justin Fuente Receives Contract Extension Through 2024

Earlier today, Justin Fuente and Virginia Tech announced that Adam Lechtenberg had been promoted to the 10th assistant role while VMIs ILBs coach Justin Hamilton was added to the support staff. However, the Hokies were far from being done with the moves they were making. https://twitter.com/VT_Football/status/958408499913949185 Virginia Tech announced that Justin Fuente has received a contract extension through the 2024 season. According to Andy Bitter of the Roanoke Times, Fuente will receive a pay raise to $4 million for the 2018 and 2019 seasons while he can earn $5 million in 2024 if his contract or status at Virginia Tech doesn't change between now and then. The extension makes Fuente the highest paid coach in the state of Virginia and one of the highest paid coaches in the ACC. This is the second-straight offseason where Fuente has received a one-year contract extension with this extension timely coming before National Signing Day. The timing of this extension should make it clear to recruits that Fuente plans to be in Blacksburg for the foreseeable future. Fuente signing another contract extension is a win for both sides as Fuente gets a well-deserved pay raise while the Hokies likely gain a larger buyout that will continue to keep schools away.
