Virginia Tech has had a solid start on the recruiting trail in 2019 but today, the Hokies landed one of the top in-state recruits in four-star 757 DB Cam'Ron Kelly. https://twitter.com/CamRonJKelly/status/1004734345880403968 https://twitter.com/OscarSmithHigh/status/1004733595989282816 Kelly became the Hokies' seventh commit of their 2019 class this morning. In making his announcement, Kelly said "We are all in at Virginia Tech," a reference to the football slogans at Penn State and Clemson, two other teams that were involved in his recruitment. The four-star DB is the third in-state commitment joining Jahad Carter and Jesse Hanson. Kelly is also the Hokies' third DB commit alongside Nyquee Hawkins and Mike Sainristil. Earlier this spring, Kelly surprised a lot of people when the Hokies didn't make his top 8, seeming to end VT's hopes of landing him. However, the Hokies did not stop recruiting him and today, they've been rewarded for their persistence. Looking ahead to his collegiate future, Kelly is projected to be a defensive back with cornerback being his most likely landing spot. At this point, the Hokies are putting together an impressive DB class headlined by Kelly and fellow four-star Nyquee Hawkins. Virginia Tech has had tons of success recruiting at 757 power Oscar Smith over the years with Kelly being the latest big time commitment from the school. Some of the other recent prominent commitments from Oscar Smith include Keshon Artis, Deshawn McClease, and J.C. Coleman. In addition to the VT coaching staff's continual push for Kelly, Keshon Artis also played a big role in continuing to push for his former teammate to follow him to Blacksburg. https://twitter.com/In2WeTrust/status/1004743838135717889 Congrats to Cam'Ron Kelly on his commitment to Virginia Tech.
