Elite 2020 RB Chris Tyree Recaps His "Great" Virginia Tech Visit

Chris Tyree 1
Virginia Tech's Blacksburg Bash recruiting barbecue was loaded with top 2019 and 2020 recruits including elite 2020 RB Chris Tyree. The high four-star RB and Richmond native has emerged as one of the best tailbacks in the nation and caught up with us to update us on his recruitment. Tyree told us that he had a "great visit" to Virginia Tech and that though he hasn't narrowed down his recruitment yet, the Hokies are "high" up in his recruitment. What stood out about his visit? "I definitely felt like a priority while I was there. Coach Fuente took me, my parents and twin brothers around the campus on a golf cart tour," Tyree told us. Looking ahead to the fall, Tyree told us that he currently doesn't have any visits scheduled. However, he does hope to visit several schools this fall including Virginia Tech, Florida State, Penn State, Mississippi State, and Stanford. Tyree also told us earlier this summer that VT was among the programs that he has built a "pretty good relationship with the coaching staff" along with Penn State, Florida State, Mississippi State, Stanford, Maryland, and Virginia. While Tyree hasn't cut down his list yet, a top group of contenders is starting to emerge with the Hokies being a part of that group alongside Florida State, Penn State, Mississippi State, and Stanford. One thing that could help the Hokies is the fact that Virginia Tech has some momentum recruiting in Richmond with three commitments from there in the 2019 class in four-star ATH Jaden Payoute, three-star ATH Jahad Carter, and three-star OL William Pritchard. Virginia Tech continues to make Chris Tyree a priority and in return, the Hokies continue to be one of the top priority schools for Tyree.

The four-star RB from Thomas Dale HS in Chester, VA is ranked as the 14th best recruit nationally by ESPN, 25th best by 247 Sports Composite, 32nd best by 247 Sports, and 53rd best by Rivals. ESPN has Tyree ranked as the fourth best running back and best recruit in the state of Virginia while the other three recruiting rankings have him ranked as the best all-purpose back and second best recruit in Virginia.
