2020 Four-Star OT Mitchell Mayes Looking at Visiting Virginia Tech This Spring

VT Fans 2
Mitchell Mayes has emerged as one of the top offensive tackles in the Mid-Atlantic in the 2020 class with Mayes receiving lots of interest. Much of that interest comes from the ACC with Virginia Tech being among 10 ACC programs to have offered Mayes so far. That interest will have Mayes visiting several ACC and SEC schools this spring with Virginia Tech among the potential spots. Mayes told us that he is "trying to make it" to Blacksburg for the Hokies' upcoming Junior Day on the 26th of January. Mayes is also planning on visiting Clemson, Tennessee, North Carolina, and NC State this spring while also looking at taking visits to Florida State and Georgia. If Mayes does visit Blacksburg as he it currently looking at, this will be his first visit since the Notre Dame game which he and his family enjoyed. "It was a great time. My mom enjoyed it and VT had a great game day atmosphere," Mayes said. Over the past few months, Mayes has been in contact with Virginia Tech "a good bit" via his primary recruiter Charley Wiles who he had this to say about. "He contacts me a good bit, a good dude and a great coach," Mayes said on Charley Wiles. In addition, Mayes told us that he has built strong relationships with coaches at Clemson, NC State, and Tennessee while VT isn't the only one showing lots of interest in Mayes with Clemson and North Carolina among those pursuing him the hardest. After visiting Virginia Tech this fall, Mitchell Mayes is looking at taking another visit to Blacksburg this spring as the Hokies continue to show lots of interest in the talented four-star OT.
