Being one of the youngest players in the NFL hasn’t had much of an effect on Buffalo Bills’ linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. The Virginia Tech product has put up stellar numbers on his way to being named Defensive Rookie of the Month for his efforts during December. Edmunds, a first-round pick by the Bills in 2018, recorded 43 tackles last month. He also added one sack and had four passes defended. As if those numbers aren’t impressive enough, Edmunds also made two interceptions during the month of December. His first career interception came in Week 14 against the New York Jets, when he picked off fellow rookie Sam Darnold. That pick made Edmunds the youngest player to ever record an interception in the NFL. He did it again during a week 17 win against the Miami Dolphins, returning this one for 17 yards while also making 12 tackles in the game. The final month of the season is just an exclamation mark on Edmunds’ rookie campaign. The former Hokie standout recorded 121 tackles this season, 80 of which were solo tackles. He made two sacks, two interceptions and had 12 passes defended. He also got to the ball a bit as well, forcing two fumbles early in the season. While the Bills’ season is over after failing to make the playoffs, the future looks bright with Edmunds anchoring the defense for years to come.
