Virginia Tech DT Ricky Walker Announces Pro Day Fundraiser for Autism Speaks

Throughout his time at Virginia Tech, Ricky Walker was not only known as a talented defensive tackle but also a great leader both on and off the field. Every NFL team already knows the high character of Walker, but the Hokies' defensive tackle showed his character and heart once again today with the announcement of a Pro Day fundraiser. https://twitter.com/RickGoGetEmWalk/status/1100885406105636864 Walker announced today that he will use his bench press performance at Virginia Tech's upcoming Pro Day to raise money for Autism Speaks. Fans will be able to get involved by either making direct donations through the page or by pledging a certain amount to be donated per bench rep on his Pro Day. Ricky Walker shared this statement on his page on why he is choosing to use his Pro Day to raise money for Autism Speaks: "As I take the next step toward achieving my NFL dream, I have made an important decision to use my performance at Pro Day to support Autism Speaks. This is a cause that is very near and dear to me, because I have two cousins that have both been diagnosed with Autism. They are both amazing individuals, but I understand the importance and need for additional support for the family. "For my cousins, and for all the kids and families out there who face this difficult diagnosis, I am honored to use this great opportunity and platform that I’ve been given to support the amazing work of Autism Speaks, as it leads the way in promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life-span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support." This is just the latest reminder of how great of a person Ricky Walker is and how valuable his presence would be for any NFL team. The fact that Walker is doing this not only to celebrate his cousins but all people with different abilities is something worth cherishing and celebrating regardless of your fandom.
