Virginia Tech SF Landers Nolley Enters Transfer Portal

VT Cheerleaders Clemson 1
Virginia Tech shooting guard Landers Nolley has entered his name into the NCAA's transfer portal, according to Corey Evans of Rivals.com. Nolley is the third player to begin the transfer process since the departure of former head coach Buzz Williams. Nolley was a four-star recruit when he committed to Virginia Tech, the highest-ranked commit in the Hokies' 2018 class. By entering his name in the transfer portal, the 6-foot-7 Georgia native will weigh his options before making a decision. A return to Blacksburg is possible if Nolley decides not to transfer to another program. Nolley joins guard Wabissa Bede and former shooting guard Chris Clarke in entering his name in the transfer portal. Bede played in 35 games for the Hokies this season, starting 26. He shot over 40 percent from the field and over 35 percent from three-point range. Clarke has not been with the Hokies' program since he was indefinitely suspended in October of 2018. Bede does have the ability to return should he choose to do so (as does Nolley) while Clarke does not have that option according to Mike Barber of the Richmond Times-Dispatch. The reports of Bede and Clarke seeking transfers came after Williams' departure to Texas A&M and before the announcement of Mike Young as Virginia Tech's new head coach. Nolley's name in the transfer portal was not reported until after Young's introduction to the program. Young will start almost from scratch as Tech deals with the loss of three seniors to graduation, Nickeil Alexander-Walker to the NBA Draft and possibly other players to transfer. The incoming recruiting class has already suffered as well, as four-star commit Anthony Harris has reopened his recruitment.
