The transfer portal may not fully open till December 9th, but the portal cycle is already in full swing with those who can enter early jumping in and many starting to declare their intentions to jump in. So as Virginia Tech and every other school prepares for the transfer portal season, I'm going to dive into the portal outlook for the Hokies with a breakdown of the offensive side on where the biggest needs are, what type of players the Hokies may look for, and who are names I'm monitoring.
So let's jump in by looking at the offensive side of things for the Hokies.
Quarterback
There's going to be plenty of talk about Pop Watson after his impressive game against UVA. While Watson has shown tons of promise and has a bright future, Kyron Drones remains the quarterback of 2025 entering the offseason with Watson next in line in my opinion. The focus now should be on getting Drones healthy and fixing the broken QB development structure, while getting Watson more experience in the Hokies' bowl game.
