2024 Four-Star LB Andrew Hines III Discusses Virginia Tech Offer

VT v UNC 2019 41

2024 four-star LB Andrew Hines III out of Atlanta was on the road at a 7-on-7 tournament at Auburn when he got a phone call. It was from Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Chris Marve and defensive recruiting coordinator Derek Jones who were extending him an offer from the Hokies.

He had this say about his reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer.

"I was happy and just overall excited. I was shocked since I was playing in a 7v7 Tourney at Auburn," Hines said.

Hines had this to say about his conversation with Chris Marve and Derek Jones went as a whole.

"It was great. They really liked my film and said I was a good size player. They were glad to offer because I am a big time player," Hines said.

This comes as Hines has built up a very impressive offer lit with well over 30 offers including Tennessee, Arkansas, Nebraska, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Minnesota, Boston College, Missouri, Louisville, Maryland, UVA, UCF, California, Vanderbilt, Duke, Illinois, Kansas, and more.

This comes after Hines had a strong sophomore season as he discussed with us.

"My team needed me to play TE so I split my playing time equally between LB and TE. I was able to block and be a receiving target which helped. My film highlights that but still had enough time on defense to be one of the top tacklers. I was the only Underclassman selected to an All-Region Team. I became a 4-Star LB. Added to the Tom Lemming high report. I also added 32 D1 mostly Power 5 offers for a total of 35. I think I had a good season," Hines said.

So how does this offer impact Hines' recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"VT is a great school. I have not started ranking offers yet. I am just grateful at 15 years old to have received my offers," Hines said.

Looking ahead, Hines told us that he is looking to visit Virginia Tech soon adding that he did have plans to visit next weekend, but needs to reschedule those with full intent to do so.

Four-star LB Andrew Hines III received a pleasant surprise when Virginia Tech offered him with the Hokies clearly having traction and Hines working to set up a visit to Blacksburg.
