2024 Four-Star WR Alex Taylor Recaps "Great" Virginia Tech Visit

Alex Taylor 1 July 2022 VT Visit

Virginia Tech has their final big recruiting weekend in just a few days but prior to hosting loads of talented recruits, the Hokies have hosted a few talented ones this week including 2024 four-star WR Alex Taylor out of Greensboro, NC.

His visit went well as he shared on Twitter and told us.

"The visit was great. I loved it," Taylor said.

He added this on why it was a "great" visit for him in what was his second trip to Blacksburg this past year after visiting for the Spring Game in April.

"Definitely talking with (WRs) coach (Fontel) mines and (head coach Brent) Pry, building a stronger relationship with them and learning about them," Taylor said.

He also had this to say about how his conversations with Brent Pry went.

"It was good getting to talk to him more deeply, learning about his past and what he expects this season," Taylor said.

He also added this on how his time and conversations with Fontel Mines went.

"It was great learning a little bit on why he recruited and offered me, and learning his story," Taylor said.

Beyond his meetings with Pry and Mines, Taylor was able to get a tour of Virginia Tech's campus while also doing a photoshoot as well. Through all that, the "family atmosphere" stood out the most to Taylor who added this on why it stood out for him.

"It stands out for me because I know I could feel at home being there if I was to commit (to Virginia Tech)," Taylor said.

The Hokies impressing Taylor is a big positive especially given that he's a premium recruit in the 2024 class in North Carolina ranking in the top 5 in NC by both ESPN and Rivals. His offer list is also quite impressive and in addition to VT, includes Clemson, Penn State, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Missouri, North Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, Duke, Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, and Charlotte.

That shouldn't be a surprise as he showed lots of promise as a sophomore with 44 catches for 660 yards and 6 touchdowns in only 9 games.

So what does Taylor feel are the strengths and weaknesses of his game?

"I would say strengths are getting jump balls, route separation, and reading the defense," Taylor said. "A weakness I would say is breaking tackles, wanting to improve that this year."

Looking ahead, Taylor told us that he plans to visit N.C. State on Friday and North Carolina on Saturday.

So how did his VT visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"Definitely helps Virginia Tech out a little more on me considering them, and as of right now, I don’t have a list," Taylor said.

The Hokies made a strong impression on four-star WR Alex Taylor and are squarely in the hunt in his recruitment early on.
