2024 Three-Star DB Zahir Rainer Recaps "Great" Virginia Tech Visit

Zahir Rainer March 2022 VT Visit

During a busy official visit weekend, Virginia Tech hosted plenty of notable targets beyond the 2023 cycle including 2024 three-star DB Zahir Rainer who visited Blacksburg on Sunday while also taking advantage of the chance to be coached up at VT's final camp of June.

He had this to say about how his visit to Virginia Tech went.

"The visit was great! As I also got to camp for the day and get coached by coach Cheetah (Derek Jones and coach (Pierson) Prioleau," Rainer said.

So what made it a great visit for him?

"I think personally what made it a great visit was just being able to be coached by Coach Cheetah and Prioleau, and knowing what they expect from their DB’s and I think I’m ready for that!" Rainer said.

He expanded on what he learned from his camp portion of the visit being coached up by Derek Jones and Pierson Prioleau.

"They value toughness in their DB’s and also are really big on finishing every single drill or rep. Something which I love about being coached by them, even during 1v1’s, their mindset doesn’t change which I freaking love!" Rainer said.

His visit also included spending some time with head coach Brent Pry with Rainer adding this on how that conversation went.

"My conversation with coach pry was great. He told me I preformed well at the camp and that he is excited for the future of Virginia Tech with pieces like me, my teammate (2023 three-star CB Cameren Fleming), and other key pieces in the 804 being able to come in and change the culture!" Rainer said.

It's important to note that Rainer has not committed anywhere at the moment nor has his teammate Cameren Fleming.

So with all this in mind, how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"This makes me see Tech in a better light but they are one of my top schools and will continue to be until further notice," Rainer said.

Rainer had this to say about why Virginia Tech is one of his top schools.

"The type of culture coach Pry is building, where they see me fit in their system, the amount of love they show me, and how genuine their coaching staff is! I think it definitely resonates with me," Rainer said.

Virginia Tech continues to make strong impressions on three-star Richmond DB Zahir Rainer as Brent Pry and his staff look to continue to start locking down the Commonwealth of Virginia on the recruiting trail in 2023 and 2024 building on what they did to end the 2022 cycle.
